	Location :
	Madeira and the neighbouring island of Porto Santo are situated in the Atlantic off the West African coast, just north of the Canaries. Madeira is 36 miles long and 14 miles wide and has a population of approximately 300,000. Porto Santo, 74 kilometres North East of Funchal, is much smaller - only nine miles long and three miles wide. The main attraction is an eight-kilometre long, white sand beach, in contrast to Madeira's breathtaking volcanic rock shoreline. Set on the cliff tops overlooking the Bay of Funchal and the Atlantic, Reid's Palace has, for over 100 years, been a standard-bearer for excellence on Madeira and beyond.

Accommodation :

Superior Double and Twin Rooms :
Most of our Superior rooms are located in the Garden Wing, with some also in the Main Building. All Superior Rooms in the Main Building are decorated with light and fresh fabrics to harmonise with the original Anglo-Portuguese furnishings. The interior colours are a reflection of the sparkling views of the Atlantic Ocean from the hotel's French windows and complement the original carved wood antiques.

On the second and third floor of the Garden Wing you will find our Superior rooms are very different to the other rooms, here the accent is on a light and stylish feel, with pale woods and colour co-ordinated contemporary fabrics and carpets.

Premier Double and Twin Rooms :
Most of our Premier rooms are located in the Garden Wing and some in the Main Building. All Premier rooms in the Main Building are decorated in the same light and fresh fabrics as the Superior Rooms. Slightly larger than the Superior Double Rooms with a better view over the gardens to the sea.

The first floor rooms in the Garden Wing are larger with spacious terraces and direct garden access. The charming view from these rooms is of sunlight reflecting off the turquoise waters of the bay of Funchal at the end of our gardens.

Some of our rooms located on the Main Building ground floor also offer medium covered terrace and direct access to the palm garden.

Junior Suites :
Our Junior Suites are located in the Main Building and in the Garden wing. Elegantly furnished and decorated with light and fresh fabrics, they offer comfortable seating and a spacious bedroom over an area of 35 to 40 m². The luxurious well-appointed bathrooms are decorated with Portuguese tiles.

The large balconies provide an exceptional sea view.

Superior Suites :
Most of our Superior Suites are located in the Main Building and in the Garden Wing, offering large balconies with breathtaking views over the gardens and/or the Bay of Funchal.

The separate living area and bedroom (except suite 428 shown above) are organised over a generous 40 to 45 m² and decorated with light and airy fabrics. The bedrooms are king or twin bedded and the sitting room has a writing desk and a comfortable chair and sofa.

Executive Suites :
Located in the Main Building, these attractive and spacious suites offer two rooms, with a large bedroom and a large living room. In addition there is a kitchenette for your private comfort and convenience.

Two of our suites are uniquely situated in a very quiet, secluded location within the hotel including a private entrance. From these suites you can enjoy the magnificent views over the gardens to the Atlantic ocean.

The remaining suite has been beautifully decorated with light and fresh fabrics to harmonise with the original Anglo-Portuguese furnishings. Offering a spacious and luxurious bathroom decorated with Portuguese tiles and superb sea view through the garden which you can enjoy from the large balcony.

Located in the main building, these suites measure approximately 50 to 55 square metres.

Presidential Suites :
Here at Reid's Palace we have two exquisite Presidential Suites: the Churchill Suite and the George Bernard Shaw Suite, both named after the great men who stayed in them.

Located in the Main Building, both of these two beautiful suites, renovated with light and fresh fabrics and Chinese hand-painted wallpapers with wild silk curtains, offer one spacious bedroom, with its large bathroom, and a very large sitting room.

The beautiful and generously sized bathroom is exquisitely finished and decorated with Portuguese tiles. In addition, the suites have a separate toilet, a kitchenette for your private comfort and convenience, and caricatures of Winston Churchill and George Bernard Shaw. The high ceiling retains their original features.

The very large covered balconies offer superb views through the gardens to the glistening sea on the horizon.

You will find the spa by following the pathway from the pool area which runs alongside the first tennis court. Separate changing facilities are provided for ladies and gentlemen with showers, dry sauna and steam rooms. A state of the art fitness centre is available.

Pools :
There are 3 swimming pools: 2 are seawater swimming pools - including 1 heated at 76/84ºF, and 1 is freshwater heated.

One of our pools is located at the sea level platform (with direct access to the ocean) and two others are by the Pool Terrace.

Outdoor activities :
The hotel also offers two tennis courts (free of charge), a sauna, windsurfing (free of charge during summer), fishing, scuba diving, billiards and Levada walks.

Fitness Room :
The hotel offers a 500 square feet gym with wonderful views over the ocean; equipped with LifeStyle cardio-training equipment, free weights. The Fitness room has changing rooms with sauna and steam room.

The access to our Fitness Room is free of charge for Reid's guests.

Dancing classes, Portuguese classes, Wine tasting, and Aqua-gym are also available.

Golf :
Although Madeira may not seem ideally suited for golf due to its mountainous terrain - it does in fact boast 45 holes of championship standard and is host to the PGA European Tour for the Madeira Island Open. Two courses set in beautiful surroundings allow golfers of any standard to improve their game in the favourable Madeiran climate.

Quinta do Palheiro and Santo da Serra golf clubs are fully equipped with professional tuition, golf equipment for purchase or hire, buggies and caddies. Both golf courses have scheduled shuttle services.

Each spring the island receives the prestigious PGA European Tour when the Madeira Island Open is hosted by the Santo da Serra Golf Club.

Palheiro Golf Club :
This beautiful course is situated in woodland in the hills to the east of Funchal, just 15 minutes from both Funchal and the airport. Boasting fantastic views over the bay and the city, this 18-hole, at 72,6 metres above sea level course was designed in 1993 by Cabel Robinson, and is skillfully set within the gracious parkland of the Quinta do Palheiro Ferreiro.

Due to its high altitude in the mountains, golfers are not handicapped by summer heat, often experienced on the mainland.

Santo da Serra Golf Club :
The Santo da Serra Golf Club is situated close to the picturesque village of Santo da Serra, east of Funchal, and is the home of the Madeira Island Open.

Situated high on a plateau, and at times above the cloud line, the views from the course of the sea below and mountains above are literally breathtaking. This, combined with the technically challenging design by Robert Trent Jones, elevates Santo da Serra to one of the most reputable courses in Europe and one of the most impressive in the world.

The PGA European Tour visits annually and the course has 27 formidable holes. Play is characterised by generous fairways, tight, undulating greens and a choice of tee positions to suit all abilities.

Both courses are highly in demand, so prior booking is usually essential, especially in high season.

Handicaps are 36 for ladies and 28 for men. Please note that no jeans are allowed but otherwise there is no dress code.

Tennis with tennis pro available Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 13.00 (advanced booking required).

Reid's Boutique :
The boutique is located on the fifth floor of the main building and offers a wide selection of small presents and souvenirs. From Portuguese hand-painted tiles to the famous Madeira embroidery, crystal and other items which will enchant you. Reid's and Orient-Express merchandise gifts are also available for ladies and gentlemen.

	Reid's Palace offers an excellent variety of restaurants in which to relax and socialise in the utmost comfort. Enjoy breakfast in the Garden Restaurant, or a lunch buffet in the Pool Terrace. During the winter months, Les Faunes offers fine dining with stunning views over the bay of Funchal while, during the warmer months, you can dine under the stars in Brisa do Mar and enjoy creative French cuisine and the stunning views over the sea. All year round, you can dine in an elegant atmosphere with live music in The Dining Room. Savour Italian cuisine at Ristorante Villa Cipriani, overlooking the Atlantic, or just relax in the privacy of your own room and take advantage of our room service. Reid's Palace also offers an inviting choice of lounges and a bar in which to relax and socialise in the utmost comfort and elegance.
